Easy & delicious recipes to make while you're at home.

· cocktail

When faced with a scary and life-changing event, people have different coping mechanisms. Some clear out every grocery store of their toilet paper supply. Others stock up on 20-pound bags of beans. I, on the other hand, like to fix up a cocktail.

This past week has obviously had its ups and downs. The state of Louisiana's COVID 19 cases are climbing. Many of us aren't used to working from home or staying indoors all the time. The future is unknown. The kids are home from school. That's enough stress to drive a person to drink. Here are some easy & delicious cocktail recipes to try during your quarantine:

Salted Caramel Chocolate Martini

Since Chocolate Caramel Day (March 19) just passed, I thought I'd throw this treat in the mix.

This recipe pairs caramel vodka with rich chocolate liqueur and creamy half & half. It’s a delicious combination of flavors; sort of like a milkshake but with a nice hit of vodka. This treat is so divine that you won’t even realize you’re drinking alcohol at all.

Ingredients

For the Cocktail:

For the Garnish
  • 1 chocolate bar

Steps to Make It

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, chocolate liqueur, caramel vodka, and half & half.
  2. Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds.
  3. Strain into chilled glass.
  4. To garnish, use a vegetable peeler and peel the chocolate bar across the long edge. Top with the resulting chocolate curls.

Key tip: If you don't have a cocktail shaker, just grab two pint glasses and join their rims.
