Every month we hold a contest in our private FB group - Empowered Woman Contest. It’s a way to celebrate each other and highlight the inspiring things our community is doing inside and outside the boudoir studio. This month’s winner was Mrs Lynnsey - a brain cancer survivor who beat the odds and had lots to celebrate for her boudoir session. She shared with us a bit of her story.

Boudoir Photography: A Journey to Self-Love
December 20th was a transformative day for me. It was the day I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a world of empowerment and self-love: my first boudoir session. That day, I felt confident, sexy, and entirely myself. It was an unforgettable experience that celebrated not just my body but the incredible journey it has been through. This was my first boudoir shoot but it definitely won’t be my last! I absolutely loved the experience. However, it wasn’t always easy to imagine myself in front of the camera, embracing my body and celebrating my story.
A Day in My Life
My daily routine is a balance of simplicity and purpose. I start my mornings with a comforting cup of coffee, a moment to gather my thoughts for the day ahead. Then, I tidy up around the house and dedicate time to my side hustle with Mary Kay. As someone who is disabled, this business brings me joy and a sense of accomplishment. It’s my little escape—something I do purely for fun.

If I Could Speak to a Room Full of People
If I ever had the opportunity to address an audience, my topic would undoubtedly be strength. Life has taught me that we are all stronger than we realize. When faced with challenges that test the very core of who we are, that inner strength emerges. It’s something we don’t always see in ourselves until life demands it of us.
Overcoming Life’s Challenges
My journey hasn’t been easy. I’m a survivor—a word that carries so much weight in my life. I overcame a life-threatening brain tumor that changed everything for me. I had to relearn how to live, moving from complete dependence to regaining my independence. Though I use a walker now, I’m determined to walk unassisted one day.

On top of that, I’m a proud and grateful survivor of Triple Negative breast cancer. This June, I’ll celebrate five years cancer-free, God willing. These experiences have shaped who I am today and remind me daily of my resilience and determination.

Looking Forward
My journey is ongoing. I’ve already lost 72 pounds on my own, and I’m working toward losing another 50. With every step forward, I’m reminded of my strength and the beauty of the process. Another boudoir session is on the horizon, and I can’t wait to step in front of the camera again, celebrating all that I’ve accomplished and all that is yet to come.
Embracing Confidence and Beauty
Booking a shoot with A. Dannette Boudoir photography is a chance to honor your story, your body, and your spirit. For me, it’s a way to say, “I’m here, I’m strong, and I’m worthy.” Whether it’s your first boudoir shoot or your fifth, I hope you take the leap. You are so much stronger than you think.
